The Rajasthan government has launched the “Rajasthan Rural Tourism Scheme” to improve employment and living standards in rural areas. This scheme has been launched by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Under this scheme, relaxation will be given in the rules for building guest houses in rural areas. This initiative will strengthen the local economy and tourists will get to experience rural culture and natural beauty. You can also contribute to rural tourism by taking advantage of the scheme.

Objective of the scheme

The Rajasthan government has started this scheme. The aim of this scheme is to promote and protect rural culture. Under this, tourism units will be set up in rural areas. Under the scheme, the government will provide incentives for setting up rural tourism units, rural guest houses, agricultural tourism units, camping sites and caravan parks to provide employment to rural families. Under this scheme, some rules will be changed for setting up the unit – such as no stamp duty will have to be paid for setting up units in rural areas.

Rural handicrafts will also be promoted through this scheme. Under this scheme, rural citizens will get employment in their area, which will improve their economic condition. Also, tourists from the country and abroad will come to visit rural areas. Which will promote the rural culture of the state. The government has implemented this scheme in the entire state. And it will be operated by the Rajasthan Tourism Department.

Exemption from setting up the unit

  • 100% exemption in stamp duty will be given on setting up a rural unit.
  • Initially 25 percent stamp duty will be payable.
  • Reimbursement facility will also be available on submission of certificate for starting a tourism unit.
  • 100% refund of SGST payable and deposited will also be available for 10 years.
  • Under the Chief Minister Small Industries Promotion Scheme, loan grant of up to Rs 25 lakh will be available.
  • To construct a rural guest house you will not need approval for plan approval of guest house building.   
  • Projects by local artists and craftsmen of the state will receive priority in approval and payments.
  • The scheme will not only increase employment opportunities but will also promote local art and culture.

Rules for the operator

  • Under this scheme, a guest house will be developed, it must have 6-10 rooms.
  • Also, for providing food in the guest house, it is mandatory to have FSSAI food license which the applicant will have to obtain on his own. 
  • A minimum of 2000 square metres will be allowed for agricultural tourism.
  • Under this scheme, capping site can be created in a minimum area of ​​1000 square metres to a maximum of one hectare of land.
  • Along with all these things, there should also be parking facility for tourists.
  • Minimum and maximum plots for rural guest houses will not be fixed in populated areas.
  • For its installation, permission should be given on a 15 feet wide road.
  • This will not require land conversion and building plan approval. 

Benefits of the scheme

  • A booster of 10-15% is available on selected asset creation incentives.
  • For providing training in Rajasthan, a training subsidy of Rs. 4,000 per month per worker is given for 6 months.
  • Employment will be available in tourist villages.

Eligibility for the scheme

  • The applicant must be a native of Rajasthan.
  • The applicant will require a minimum of 1000 square meter agricultural land and a maximum of 2 hectares of agricultural land to set up any type of unit.
  • All categories of citizens of the state will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.
