A historic bill was passed in the Rajasthan Assembly. The name of this bill is Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme. Unemployment allowance is being given by the state governments to provide financial assistance to the unemployed youth. During this, the Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme 2023 was passed for the unemployed youth of the state by the Rajasthan Government Ashok Gehlot. Under this scheme, every unemployed person of the state will be provided employment for 125 days in Manega. If he is not able to get employment, then an allowance will be arranged for him. Also, the pension given for social security will also be at least one thousand rupees. In this scheme, the elderly, disabled, widows and single women will now be given a pension of at least one thousand rupees. The pension will increase at the rate of 15 percent. Its base will be at least one thousand rupees.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal has said in the Assembly that now with the passing of this bill, all the rural and urban families of the state will get employment for 125 days in a year. Earlier, 100 days of work was available in a year under Manega and Indira Gandhi Rojgar Yojana. Also, under the social security schemes, Mahatma Gandhi Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme will be started to guarantee a pension of at least one thousand rupees to the elderly, disabled, widows and single women. For this, Rajasthan Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme Bill-2023 was brought.

Dhariwal has said that Rajasthan is the first state in the country to guarantee such social security by making a law. There is a provision of 15 percent increase in pension every year. This increase will be five percent and ten percent. He also said that after the law is made, all these provisions will be available to the public as a right, and the common people will get relief from inflation.
This scheme will bring change in Rajasthan
After the bill was passed, the government said that people will get income guarantee from this. Will this bring any change in the condition of the people of Rajasthan? While presenting the budget, Chief Minister Gehlot told the House that the per capita income of the state in 2022-23 is 1 lakh 56 thousand 149 which is 14.85 percent more than last year 2021-22. The highest increase in per capita income in the last 11 years was 18.10 percent last year. Rajasthan’s per capita income increased by an average of 10.01 percent last year. Whereas at the national level this growth has been only 7.89 percent. Ashok Gehlot’s statement was also a response to the opposition’s “free politics”.
