Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana is a pension scheme designed for the unorganized sector. Under this scheme, workers are provided regular monthly pension after the age of 60 years. This scheme has been started to provide financial security to the working workers in old age. This scheme has been designed for workers in the unorganized sector such as rickshaw pullers, construction workers, domestic workers, handcart drivers, agricultural laborers etc.

The objective of this scheme is to provide pension of up to Rs 3,000 per month to workers in the unorganized sector after the age of 60 years, so that the beneficiaries can live their life in old age and fulfill their financial needs through the amount received through this scheme. People can become self-reliant through this scheme. They will not have to beg in front of anyone for their basic needs even in old age.

Who are the beneficiaries of the scheme
The benefits of this scheme can be availed by those who do temporary jobs, daily wage labour, set up a shop on the roadside, sell tea, drive a rickshaw, push a handcart, drive someone’s car or bus, small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural labourers, fishermen, cattle herders, etc. People falling in this category can take advantage of this scheme. Along with this, maids and sweepers working in houses will also come under this category. If the applicant has already applied in this scheme and due to any reason he dies, then 50% of the pension amount will be provided to his family.

How to apply online for the scheme
- To apply for the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, you will have to visit the official website. After that, you will have to go to the home page.

- After this a new page will open in front of you.
- Here you have to click on the option of Self Enrollment. After that a pop-up will open in front of you.
