Haryana government has started Aapki Beti Hamari Beti Yojana to enhance the status of girls in the family and society. The government wants to change the mindset of people in the matter of girls. This scheme focuses on giving the right of birth and survival to the girls. This scheme has been implemented in both rural and urban areas. The purpose of this scheme is that the daughters who are born after 22 January 2015. Those daughters will be given financial assistance of 21 thousand rupees till they turn 18 years old. Along with this, if a second daughter is born in the house, then the government will also provide 5 thousand rupees to her for five years.

Objective of the scheme

The aim of this scheme is to correct the ratio between boys and girls and to protect those daughters who are at risk of foeticide. By increasing the number of girls, equality should be made with boys. The number of girls is less. This scheme will help in changing the negative thinking of people about girls. Even those people who used to kill girls in the womb considering them a burden, their thinking will also change. Through this scheme, the government wants to help girls in their education and prosperity.

Benefits of the scheme

  • This scheme will bring benefits to the daughters of Haryana.
  • 21 thousand rupees will be given to the first girl child born in a Scheduled Caste and BPL family after 22 January 2015. Irrespective of their religion, caste, creed, number of sons and income. This amount is deposited in the name of the girl in the Life Insurance Corporation.
  • The amount invested in LIC will be paid to the girl child on attaining the age of 18 years.
  • All families born with twin girls or more than one girl child on or before January 21, 2015 will get Rs 2,500 every year for five years.
  • All girl children are given Aadhaar numbers to provide the benefits under this scheme. The Aadhaar number of the parents is also accepted during the registration of the girl child’s birth.

Eligibility for the scheme

  • The parents of the girl child should be residents of Haryana. One of the parents of the girl child should be a resident of Haryana.
  • The family should belong to the economically weaker section.
  • Pregnant woman should be registered at Anganwadi centre.
  • Girls should be registered. Parents of girls should ensure proper vaccination and submit vaccination records while receiving payment.
  • Girls should be enrolled in school.
  • Parents should not be receiving any pension or financial assistance from the Government/Local bodies.

Online Application Process

  • First of all you have to visit the official website of Saral Portal http://wcdhry.gov.in/.
  • There you have to click on New User Register.
  • A registration form will open, in which you will have to enter all the information.

  • After filling the form you have to click on the “Submit” option.
  • After submitting this, you have to upload the required documents.

Offline application process

  • When a girl child is born, the parents will have to go to the nearest Anganwadi centre.
  • There you will get the application form, you have to fill that form and fill all the information carefully.
  • Also attach copies of all documents.
  • After filling the form, you have to submit it again to the Anganwadi centre.
  • Remember that the application process has to be completed within the first month of birth.
  • You can also submit this form at the health centre.
